Problem reported on Firmware V.1.12 of PTN1
and PTN1/Pro
Dear customers who have upgraded the firmware of V.1.12 of PTN1 and PTN1/Pro to V.1.12:
There were some reports that PTN1 and PTN1/Pro with the firmware V.1.12 sometimes delays playback for DAISY books once in several minutes.
We have found that this phenomena should not arise from defects of hardware but we are now continuing investigation of the causes by the firmware.
WE ADVISE ALL OF THE CUSTOMERS CONCERNED TO DOWNGRADE THE FIRMWARE FROM V1.12 TO V1.06. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEALER FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences for this matter and thank you very much for your cooperation.

built-in CD drive, but has SD card and USB capability.

Thank you for using PLEXTALK products.
Due to performance problem, PTN1 Pro firmware Version 1.11, Plextor/Shinano Kenshi stopped distributing the version. With 1.11 firmware, PTN1 Pro takes longer time to start playback than previous version after Play/Stop key is pressed.
We are preparing to release of next firmware update, Version 1.12, is expected to be available early May. Please wait for the updater.

One should install the latest firmware, which fixes this problem.

Dear PLEXTALK users,
Thank you for your sincere support to our product.
We are sorry to inform that the sales of PTR1 will be end when the
current stock runs out. However the service and repair will be continued.
In Europe, from July 1, 2006, a new environmental regulation called
RoHS will be introduced.
(RoHS: The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and
electronic equipment directive)
In this directive, no lead contained material or components must
be used in the equipment or devise. We have contacted parts suppliers to
keep the current PTR1, but no alternative parts were found. As a result,
the design of PTR1 must be changed.
The follow-up model called PTR2 complying with RoHS will be released
before the end of 2005 and the product details will be announced around
the end of September.
